We are the leading national company in underground metallurgical coal mining of different specifications, as well as in producing and marketing metallurgical coke, products of the highest level of quality in Central and South America and catalogued as one of the best in the world.

We hold all legal ownership of the mines and all respective environmental licenses, complying with all the legal provisions required by the Colombian Government. Additionally, the company has not spared resources in the rigorous application of mining security regulation, in order to prevent potential issues that could affect our most valuable asset - the people who surround us.

Within the coal and coke production and preparation process of that which is destined for exportation, we guarantee an operation that is supported by the strict quality controls applied in our laboratories and our plants. These are the best in South and Central America and they do not carry out water discharges, since they use totally closed circuits, stone hearth and beehive ovens for coke production, with sea and land transportation, mechanical maintenances, etc

We also market coal and coke that is mainly produced in Boyacá and Cundinamarca, which is destined for the international market and thus becoming a regional benefit due to the knock-on effects that this causes, since massive employment avoids the incursion of people into outlawed groups. The company pays royalties and taxes in favor of the country’s development and also to the departments in which we operate.

We generate around 1.800 direct jobs and approximately three times as many indirect jobs, given that this is an activity, which due to its underground characteristics, requires a large number of man-hours and supplies.

We have guaranteed reserves with over 100 million tons of the best metallurgical coal (especially low volatility coal) in South and Central America.

Likewise, we have ongoing new concession proposals with the State in other mining areas that will allow us to expand our productive capacity.

The well-being of the community is a key point in our process, reason for which MILPA FOUNDATION was constituted in 2008 with the main purpose of contributing to providing solutions to different problems that exist in the influence areas, such as building schools, water processing plants, sports venues, soup kitchens, endowment of health centers, breast and prostate cancer prevention brigades, among others.
